About Oulouy
Yao Dapre Georges Nicol, also known as Oulouy, has transitioned from his previous role as a Project Manager in a Mobile Marketing company to become a highly talented dancer, teacher, choreographer, cultural event curator, and community administrator. He has gained recognition for his outstanding work in theater, showcasing his talent as a performer and choreographer in prominent productions such as “Black”, “The Very Last Northern White Rhino” and “African Party” Oulouy has achieved notable victories in renowned street dance battles worldwide, including Juste Debout Spain, London, Step Ya Game Up New York, Flavourama, and more. He is multidisciplinary artist who love to explore within different styles, from American Street Dances to the African Street Dances. As the co-founder of the prestigious event “Love This Dance” Oulouy promotes emerging talents in the street dance scene. He is also the visionary behind the African Street Dance Festival “OYOFE” the largest global gathering for the African street dance community.
About the workshop
He will be teaching a Coupé Décalé class, a street dance style from Ivory Coast known for its energetic, intricate footwork and fast pace. This dance style began within the Ivorian diaspora in Paris and gained widespread popularity after reaching Ivory Coast, initially influenced by Ndombolo from Congo. Today, Coupé Décalé is one of the major street dance styles in Africa.
*Open. The workshop are open level which means all levels are welcome. But it will not be suitable for beginners therefore we recommend some dance experience. Not particularly in the same style as the workshop.
